Every day, we see more and more marginalized and vulnerable people fall through the cracks as food prices surge following the pandemic and global inflation.
Too many 2SLGBTQ+ people deeply know and understand the effects of food insecurity and its compounded impact on health, mental health, relationships, the ability to work, and overall wellbeing.
Every day, The 519 – Toronto's most prominent 2SLGBTQ+ community centre and service provider –responds to this urgent neighbourhood and community need. We do this through warm takeaway meals, a unique frozen meals program, satellite food preparation to 9 supports throughout our programming.
Food is a basic human right. Food is for everyone.
Our Army of Lovers is working hard to address food insecurity in our neighbourhood, city, and communities. But the real solution to food insecurity requires a bigger response. A response that gets to the roots of this ongoing crisis.
Together, we must build a response that leaves nobody behind.
